PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk drive capable of processing even a disk in which a defect exists without degrading the reliability thereof. SOLUTION: The disk drive is equipped with: a defect detecting means (30) for detecting the defect of the disk; a setting means (26) for setting, on the basis of the defect detection result of the defect detecting means, an actual recording region which can be actually used for recording among the entire recording regions of the disk; and a recording means (23) for recording user information to the actual recording region set by the setting means.
