PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat exchanger of a type for heating water residing in pipes for blanching by the contact of the pipes and fins with combustion gas, preventive of corrosion even in contact with acidic dew condensation water and superior in anticorrosion, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The heat exchanger comprises a plurality of copper or copper alloy fins 3 arranged in parallel, copper or copper alloy finned pipes 4 inserted through holes of the fins 3 and brazed to the fins 3, a heat exchange part 6 consisting of a copper or copper alloy connection pipe 9 for connecting the finned pipes 4 in series to each other, a body 1 formed of a copper or copper alloy plate for covering the heat exchange part 6, and a copper or copper alloy can pipe 2 connected to the inlets and outlets of the finned pipes 3 and spirally wound on and brazed to the outer face of the body 1. Organic/inorganic hybrid ceramics coatings containing metal oxide are formed on at least parts of the surfaces of the fins 3, the finned pipes 4, the connection pipe 9, the body 1 and the can pipe 2.
