PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for curtain coating capable of continuously performing stable multi-ply curtain coating by suppressing the loss of coating liquid without degrading the coating film properties. SOLUTION: In the curtain coating, first and second liquids are applied onto a web 15. Before starting the coating, the coating liquid as a mixture which flows down without being applied outside the side edge part of the web 15 is recovered as second coating liquid and is stagnated in a recovery tank 36. When the first coating liquid is supplied to a first supply tank 28, the recovered coating liquid is fed from the recovery tank 36 to the first supply tank 28 and both liquids are mixed. The mixing ratio is set in such a manner that the second coating liquid is≤15vol.% of the first coating liquid. Thereby, the properties of the first coating liquid are not injured, the recovered coating liquid is used for the coating without being disposed of and a satisfactory coating film can be obtained.
