Method for processing information from at least two information sources in a motor vehicle, whereby by fusing the information from the two sources together at least one set of output information is obtained relating either to the course of the road and or the type of road. The invention also relates to a corresponding computer program for implementation of the inventive method. Independent claims are also included for the following:- (a) a processing unit for use in a motor vehicle for processing and fusing information from at least two information sources and; (b) an interface for at least two types of information processing components in a motor vehicle.
