PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder preventing the generation of bending of paper and a paper jamming or the like, and an image forming apparatus equipped with the paper feeder, miniaturizable and allowing high-speed processing. SOLUTION: A recording sheet 20 laminatedly placed on a push-up plate 17 is moved by a pick-up roller 11, and the recording sheet 21 at the most upper part is separated with a separation pawl 16. The separated recording sheet 21 is further moved with the pick-up roller 11 and sent to the conveyance route between an upper part guide 12 and a lower part guide 13. A notch is provided at the area of the lower part guide 13 corresponding to the corner of the recording sheet 21. Since the corner of the recording sheet deformed by the separation pawl 16 does not contact with the lower part guide 13 owing to the notch, the generation of bending and a jamming of the recording sheets can be prevented.
