PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method wherein a special synthesis device is used to realize the synthesis in a short time of an unsaturated polyester resin composition that can give a molded article improved in hot water resistance without using any special material in the synthesis of an unsaturated polyester resin by decomposing and re-synthesizing a recycling material comprising e.g. a PET or PEN, or without changing the reaction end points (acid value, viscosity, and molecular weight), and without changing the blending ratio of polymerizable monomers and that can be synthesized in a short time. SOLUTION: The unsaturated polyester resin composition has improved hot water resistance and can be synthesized in a short time by using a reaction device which makes it possible to shorten the time required for treatment of one batch as compared with previous batch type agitation devices using the same amount of charge, while necessary quantity of heat is supplied or removed, in a reaction system wherein a chemical reaction is effected by an operation of mixing under stirring, and the by-product of the reaction is discharged out of the system to thereby control a reverse reaction and accelerate the reaction.
