PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a probability type arithmetic element and a probability type arithmetic unit which are capable of deriving a probability of chaos generation mathematically, have a clear procedure of setting parameters for changing the probability linearly, and enable comparison of analog information. SOLUTION: The device is equipped with a fluctuation generator 15 for generating an analog quantity having the fluctuation consisting of chaos of a tent mapping and for outputting the analog quantity, a mixer 45 for outputting a fluctuation superimposed signal in which the output of the fluctuation generator 15 is superimposed upon an input signal 13 indicated by the analog quantity, and a threshold processor 47 for generating and outputting a pulse by performing threshold processing with the fluctuation superimposed signal outputted from the mixer 45.
