In a process to manufacture hygiene incontinence products a continual web (7) is delivered via feed rollers onto the V-shaped surface of a conveyer belt (2). The web advance is arrested as reaches an air blower station (15) adopts the V-shaped profile with the assistance of a first air blower (15) and then advances under a strip (21) separation (26) and application drum (20) to a second air station (28). During passage with the belt, the absorptive web is retained in the v-shaped grooves by suction. The strips of elastic (21) bridge a number of transverse folds (14) and are bonded to the web (7) at the rib (5) free tips (6). On leaving the conveyer belt the transverse folds are ironed out, thereby extending the elastic sections (21). Also claimed is a commensurate assembly with a web reefing station which presents the web at a speed v1 which is faster than the belt speed v2. The elastic strip is presented at a speed v4 which is less than the belt speed v2. The product is removed at a speed v3 which is faster than that of the cutter drum speed v2.
