PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrict trouble caused by electrodes getting in contact with each other or discharging even in a case where lateral force is applied to a damping device using electroviscous fluid. SOLUTION: In this electrode structure for a damping device, damping action is generated to restrict move of a movable member as the movable member moves to a fixed member by passing electroviscous fluid between the electrodes. Enlarged width parts 1a and 1b are provided to enlarge a gap between one electrode 1 and the other electrode 2 at least on one end side of one electrode 1. Even when one electrode is inclined to the other electrode, therefore, the electrodes are prohibited from getting in contact with each other. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
