PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid the loss a portable communication apparatus, and facilitate the finding of it and to improve its waterproof performance, when it is dropped into water. SOLUTION: When the apparatus is dropped to water, and a part of a case is immersed with the water, the position of its gravity center moves to a position 42A near the front bottom from a position in a non-immersed time. The space to be immersed includes a pouch-like space formed by a key rubber 48 in a gap between keys 14, 14, a pouch-like space defined by a front case 18A and a microphone cover around a microphone, and a pouch-like space defined by a fall shock buffer side cover 34A and the front case 18A on a side. In addition to that, the front case 18A is heavier than a backside case 32; and air layers 44, 46, etc. are formed in the cases, and a portable telephone floats on the surface of water with its antenna 26 and a termination lamp 24 set facing upward when it falls below the water surface. This can avoid immersion in water and facilitates the finding of it, and thereby facilitates the exhibiting of its waterproof performance. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
