PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a maintenance protective device of an elevator drive device employing a belt. SOLUTION: A drive device in which a rope-like or belt-like tension member to support an object to be moved is wound around a sheave, and a belt in contact with an arc-shaped area of the tension member wound around the sheave is circulated by a motor comprises a detection means to detect the rotation of the motor, a restriction member of the tension member, and a torque instruction means to instruct the torque exceeding the maximum unbalance tension of the tension member, and further comprises a determination means which gives the torque instruction from the torque instruction means while the restriction means is operated, and determines that the belt is soon worn if the detection means detects the rotation of the motor.
