PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an immersion case of a tunnel joint of an immersion tunnel and a shield tunnel and a joint method for an under water tunnel without restriction of ocean condition and without need of placing underwater concrete in the joint of the immersion tunnel and the shield tunnel. SOLUTION: An end wall 2, an opening wall 4, and a partition wall 3 are provided in a cylindrical immersion case 1. After the end wall 2 is forced to penetrate in a shield machine 8, to pass through the opening of the opening wall 4, it is propelled to the vicinity of the partition wall 3. The shield machine 8 is engaged with the opening of the opening wall 4. The gap between the shield machine 8 and the opening is sealed. After water has been drained from the space surrounded by the shield machine 8 and the opening, the partition wall 3 is opened and a cutter part 81 is demolished to enable opening of the immersion tunnel and the shield tunnel.
