PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic pigment suitable for manufacturing coated paper having excellent blank paper gloss and printing gloss, sufficient surface strength and ink setting capability and good blocking resistance, a paper coating composition containing the organic pigment and the coated paper coated with the paper coating composition. SOLUTION: This organic pigment having weight average particle diameter of 150-400nm is composed of a copolymer having a glass transition temperature of 40-80°C and produced by emulsion polymerization of 100 pts.wt. monomer mixture of a specific composition, in which a difference (ΔT=Tfb-Ts) of a flowing beginning temperature (Tfb) and a softening temperature (Ts) measured with a capillary rheometer is 35-150°C. The paper coating composition comprises the organic pigment. The coated paper is manufactured by coating the paper coating composition on paper. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
