<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a dimension of a magnetoelectric transducer type pointing device down to a level where mount onto a portable information apparatus is feasible without impairing the operability of an operating part. <P>SOLUTION: The pointing device 10 is equipped with a base part 12, the operating part 14 supported on the base part 12 so that it can move to the base part 12, a magnet 16 installed in the operating part 14, and a magnetoelectric transducer 18 installed in the base part 12 near the magnet 16. The operating part 14 is provided with a holding part 20 holding the magnet 16 and supported on the base part 12 so that it can move horizontally, and an elastic part 22 having the elasticity to return the holding part 20 to an original position of a horizontal movement range. The base part 12 is equipped with a circuit substrate 24 and a supporting member 26 fixedly connected to the circuit substrate 24. A cylinder wall 30 of a movement regulating element for prescribing the movement range of the holding part 20 of the operating part 14 is protrusively provided to the supporting member 16 in the way that the cylinder wall surrounds a supporting surface 28a. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
