PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that, defective blocks are liable to occure in an information recording medium in which the number of rewriting times is restricted, since a rewriting occurs in an area where data is deleted in the conventional recording method. SOLUTION: This recording method includes: a step S3 which searches unassigned areas in an information recording area and holds unassigned area specifying information which specifies at least one unassigned area which is found by this search in a memory; a step S4 which judges whether an unassigned area which satisfies a recording request exists in at least the one unassigned area specified by unassigned area specifying information or not; and a step 5 which assigns the unassigned area as an area for recording data when the judged result of the step 4 is "Yes" and records the data in the assigned area.
