METHOD FOR CONTROLLING POSITIONING OF HEAD AND DISK UNIT USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for positioning a head in a two-stage actuator configuration with high accuracy by setting a higher control frequency and compensating outer disturbance in positioning control of the head. SOLUTION: A first estimator 13 outputs a first head position estimation signal x1estby estimating the position of the head from a VCM (Voice Coil Motor) driving signal u1and a voltage signal Va from a VCM 16 and outputs a disturbance estimation signalτdestby estimating the disturbance acting on a heat supplying mechanism 8. A second estimator 15 outputs a displacement estimation signal x2estby estimating the displacement of the head from a control signal c2of a jogging actuator 7 and obtains a second head position estimation signal xestby adding the signal xlestand the signal x2est. A position error signal e is formed by using a head position signal x or second head position estimation signal xestobtained by using servo information. A disturbance compensator 10 forms a VCM driving signal u1by synthesizing a VCM control signal c1and the disturbance estimation signalτdest. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
