PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens unit capable of stably aligning the optical axes of a semiconductor laser and a collimator lens with each other, and a scanning optical device having the lens unit. SOLUTION: A tool 25 for adjustment is installed so as to cover a collimator lens unit 19. At this time, a projection part 29 composed of adjustment tool support parts 27 and 28 abuts against an end surface 50 of an aperture 18 and a rear surface 23 of a lens barrel 12. The end surface 50 of the aperture 18 is tapered, so the end surface 50 of the aperture 18 and an operation point (or contact) 32 of the adjustment tool 25 can be moved down enough to move the lens barrel 12 holding the collimator lens 3.
