PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber orientation meter reducing dust and dirt depositted on a protection glass. SOLUTION: The fiber orientation meter has a light source placed nearly perpendicular to a specimen paper and a plurality of light receiving elements placed on a reflection plane having the same angle relative to the light source. The light from the light source is applied to the paper through a protection glass, the light reflected and scattered by the paper is detected by the light-receiving elements and the orientation direction of the paper is determined by the directionality of the reflected light detected by the light-receiving elements. The orientation meter is further provided with a gas blowing means to blow a gas against the surface of the protection glass. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
