PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stably manufacturing a dispersant for use in suspension polymerization that produces excellent suspension stability during polymerization. SOLUTION: This method for manufacturing a dispersant for use in suspension polymerization comprises forming a polymer by polymerizing a mixture comprising a (meth)acrylic acid derivative of a specific structure of 100-10 mass% and another vinyl monomer of 0-90 mass% copolymerizable with the (meth)acrylic acid derivative, wherein an amount of a peroxide contained in the (meth)acrylic acid derivative as an impurity is≤0.5 ppm based on mass of the (meth)acrylic acid derivative.
