<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide nonaqueous electrolyte improving charging/discharging efficiency of lithium when a lithium metal electrode is used as a negative electrode material, and a lithium cell adopting it. <P>SOLUTION: This nonaqueous electrolyte contains a substituted or non-substituted acetate compound including a compound expressed as a chemical formula 1 (R<SB>1</SB>expresses a hydrogen atom, halogen atom, hydroxy group, alkyl group, alkoxy group, heteroaryl group, etc., and R<SB>2</SB>expresses a hydrogen atom, halogen atom, alkyl group, aryl group, heteroaryl group, etc.).
