PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of specifying the written position of a fiber Bragg grating capable of specifying the written position of the FBG with high detection sensitivity by simple operations independent of the length of an optical fiber in which the FBG is written. SOLUTION: Visible light is inputted to the optical fiber 3 in which the FBG 4 is written in its core 1. By detecting the leakage light of the visible light from the FBG part, the written position of the FBG is specified. In addition, the written position of the FBG may be marked. In the case of recoating the part in which the FBG is written with a resin after the writing, it is suitable to recoat it with a visible light transmittable resin. It is possible to easily verify the written position of the GBG and detect and specify the written position of the FBG by an inexpensive nondestructive inspection method. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
