PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an infrared lamp excellent as a heat source, using a carbon based material, and having high emissivity of infrared radiation and a low rush current, as to the infrared lamp used for heat-soaking and space-heating. SOLUTION: This infrared lamp is formed like a rod, and lead wires 4, 7 are connected to both ends of the rod. As a heating element, the carbon based material 2 comprising a mixture of at least one kind of crystallized carbon such as graphite and amorphous carbon is filled in a glass tube 1 so that the end part of the lead wire 7 is led to the outside of the glass tube 1, and this heating element adopted in the infrared lamp has excellent rigidity.
