PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized optical module which has a polarized wave separating function and a function of an optical isolator. SOLUTION: The optical module that separates or mixes mutually orthogonal polarized waves consists of: an optical element part composed of two parallel flat plate birefringent crystals and a magnetooptic crystal; an optical fiber which is arranged at one end of the optical element part; and two optical fibers which are arranged at the other end of the optical element part and propagate mutually orthogonal linear polarized light beams.
