PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a working method for reinforcing and repairing a rail, which enhances the fatigue strength of an unevenly shaped surface whereon stress concentration is easy to cause, and enhances surface hardness, by applying ultrasonic percussion treatment of performing peening wherein the unevenly shaped surface is percussed, so as to reinforce/repair the unevenly shaped surface such as a drilling surface at the end of the rail, whereon the stress concentration is easy to cause, and a surface of a build-up welding part. SOLUTION: In the working method for reinforcing the rail, a groove is formed by applying the ultrasonic percussion treatment to an outer peripheral surface of a cut hole drilling surface or a cut surface of a bolt hole at the end of the rail, so that a shape of an end surface can be improved.
