PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a modified cross-section cellulose ester-based filament having high gloss and a high coloring property which have not been obtained hitherto, free from defects of fluff, fibrillation, etc. and particularly suitable for clothes. SOLUTION: The modified cross-section filament is composed of a thermoplastic composition consisting mainly of a cellulose ester and a plasticizer. In the filament, a value (D/d) obtained by dividing a diameter (D) of circumscribed circle of a fiber cross section by a diameter (d) of inscribed circle of the fiber cross section is 1.1 to 10 and single yarn fineness of the fiber is 0.5 to 10 dtex and initial tensile resistance of the fiber is 10 to 30 cN/dtex.
