PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent damage by a fire of a motor and to prevent breakage of lips or the body of a fish, etc., caught on a terminal tackle in a motor controller for an electric reel. SOLUTION: A lateral face on the side of a handle 2 of a reel body 1 of the electric reel is provided with a handle 2, the motor 12 and a speed change lever 13 arranged for designating the rotational speed of the motor 12 from a stopped state to a prescribed rotating state by shaking in front of the handle 2. A counter case 4 is fixed to the upper part of the reel body 1. A display part 5 and a switch operating part 6 arranged on the periphery of the display part 5 are installed on the top surface of the counter case 4.
