An automotive gear is selected by a hand-lever which is coupled to the respective cog selector by a sleeve joint (1) with a shaft (3) and surrounding bush (5) The interface between shaft and bush has a series of interlocking detents and ridges (9, 10, 11) which are parallel to the shaft main axis.
