OPTICAL CODE DIVISION MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical code division multiplex communication apparatus of high performance wherein interference between optical coding signals is suppressed.

SOLUTION: The optical code division multiplex communication apparatus has a plurality of grating waveguide encoders wherein uniform pitch gratings which reflects inputted optical signals and whose number is equal to the number of optical code chips are formed in the waveguide direction of optical waveguides and respective gratings correspond to one code value of binary phase optical codes and encode the inputted optical signals and retarders relatively retarding respective encoded signals from the plurality of grating waveguide encoders. The adjacent uniform pitch gratings corresponding to the position where optical code values are different from each other are disposed at an interval by which a phase shift of (2m+1)π/2 (m is an integer) is given to the inputted optical signals and the other adjacent uniform pitch gratings are disposed at an interval by which a phase shift of nπ (n is an integer) is given to the inputted optical signals.
