METHOD FOR PRODUCING TERMINAL-BLOCKED POLYCARBONATE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aromatic polycarbonate having a hydroxy group blocked by a blocking agent easily and effectively blocking the hydroxy group at the terminal of the polycarbonate by an extruder without reducing the molecular weight of the polycarbonate resin when producing the polycarbonate by a melt-polymerization of an aromatic dihydroxy compound and a diester of carbonic acid. SOLUTION: The method for producing the aromatic polycarbonate involves reacting an aromatic monocarboxylic acid anhydride represented by a specific formula, and an aromatic sulfonic acid as terminal-blocking agents of the polycarbonate in the extruder by continuously adding them when producing the polycarbonate by a melt polymerization of an aromatic dihydroxy compound and a diester of carbonic acid.
