PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically correct the distortion of an image projected obliquely to a screen from a projector by digital processing without using a test pattern. SOLUTION: The projector with an automatic distortion correcting function is equipped with a PC card slot 10 for fetching image data from a PC card, and a two-dimensional image processing part 15 performing two-dimensional image processing for correcting the distortion of the projected image. Based on the image data read by a PC card reading part 11 by connecting the PC card where the image projected on the screen is taken and recorded by a digital camera to the PC card slot 10, distortion correction data for the projected image is calculated in a correction data arithmetic part 20 and stored in a correction data memory 21.
