PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly antibacterial flexible tube for an endoscope, and to provide the endoscope including the tube. SOLUTION: The endoscope includes the insertion flexible tube 1 (the endoscope flexible tube of the present invention) comprising: a long size flexible tube 11 with flexibility (plasticity); and a bending section arranged at the distal end of the flexible tube 11. The insertion flexible tube 1 (the flexible tube 11) includes: a tubular core material 2; and a jacket 3 for coating the outer periphery of the core material 2. The jacket 3 has a compound containing at least a tropolone skeleton as antibacterial substance in the area of the outer surface. The content of the compound having the tropolone skeleton in the jacket 3 is favorable to be 0.1-20wt%. It is also favorable that the compound having the tropolone skeleton is at least one of hinokitiol, its isomer, its analog, or a derivative thereof. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
