A rotary internal combustion engine consists of two moving parts, a cam and the associated rider, whose hollow wheel engages with grooves on the stator. The rider rotates at half the angular speed in the direction of eccentric rotation, occupying a trochiloid form with tip seals at each end. The motor operates using either a four-stroke or two-stroke principle.
