PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a prophylactic and therapeutic agent for neuropathy which has excellent action and low toxicity. SOLUTION: The prophylactic and therapeutic agent comprises a compound to be represented by formula (1) [wherein ring A is a 5-membered aromatic heterocycle containing two or more nitrogen atoms which may further have a substituent; B is a hydrocarbon group which may be substituted or a heterocyclic group which may be substituted; X is a bivalent noncyclic hydrocarbon group; Z is -O-, -S-, -NR<SP>2</SP>-, -CONR<SP>2</SP>or -NR<SP>2</SP>CO- (wherein R<SP>2</SP>is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group which may be substituted); Y is a bond or a bivalent noncyclic hydrocarbon group; R<SP>1</SP>is a cyclic group which may be substituted, an amino group which may be substituted or an acyl group which may be substituted, provided that when the 5-membered aromatic heterocycle represented by ring A is imidazole, Z is not -O-] or its salt.
