PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable data recording/reproducing system for carrying out mirroring recording for simultaneously recording the same data in two recording devices by preventing effective storage capacity from being sharply reduced, and preventing a failure rate from being increased due to the centralization of loads when one recording device for backup is always operated. SOLUTION: In a data recording/reproducing system for carrying out mirroring recording, two or more of a plurality of recording devices are made to share functions as recording devices for backup for performing the backup recording of data, and the remaining recording devices whose number is larger than the recording devices for backup are made to share functions as original recording devices for performing the original recording of data, and the combination of one of the recording devices for backup with one of the original recording devices is successively changed and set, so that the recording of inputted digital data can be carried out.
