PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form spiny inserts of an effective shape around the outer peripheral wall of a cylinder sleeve. SOLUTION: A base material LB composed of a heat-insulating material, a parting agent and a binder dispersed in water, is pumped from a tank 12 by a (R) Monopump 20 and conveyed to a liquid feed pipe 24. A tank 28 attached with a cylinder is connected to the liquid feed pipe 24 via a joint 26 and a connection pipe 40. An anionic surfactant SA stored in the tank 28 attached with the cylinder is sent to the liquid feed pipe 24 by pressure from a piston 46 and then mixed into the base material LB. Thus prepared facing material is sprayed through a nozzle 30 and coated onto the inner peripheral wall of the cylindrical metal die 14. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
