PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating apparatus capable of uniformly and stably coating a flexible strip-like support with a coating solution, the apparatus having very low frictional resistance to the coating solution. SOLUTION: Slot surfaces 11a, 11b, 12a, 12b forming a first slot 11 and a second slot 12 and pockets 20, 21 are polished to achieve a desired roughness so that the friction coefficient with respect to the coating solution is reduced, wherein the slot surfaces 11a, 11b, 12a, 12b are polished along the direction of the coating solution flow.
