A slurry 18 of asbestos-cement &c. supplied by a pipe 17 to a flow-box 15 is fed to a travelling screen 10, is agitated by a frame 19 reciprocated mechanically at 22 or electrically or pneumatically, passes over suction boxes 14 and beneath a press roll 25 and an embossing couch press roll 26 ; it then travels over guide rolls 33 and on to plates 32 placed by hand on, or mechanically fed to a conveyer band 29, a roller 34 pressing the material so that it conforms with corrugations of the plates 32, whereafter it is cut at A, A, and hardened. A trough 27 with one or more openings extending across the machine may supply dyes &c., e.g. to form ornamental longitudinal stripes. The screen 10 may be sprayed at 28. |
