Provided is a voltage regulator which has an improved overshoot characteristic. Only in the case where a voltage to which an output voltage is to be controlled is higher than a desirable value, an operating current of an error amplifier composing the voltage regulator to a temporarily large value is controlled to obtained the improved overshoot characteristic.
