PURPOSE: Collapsing structure of a steering column for a vehicle is provided to eliminate a process for forming a curling part to an outer tube, reduce the number of parts, and prevent defects generated in assembling the outer tube and an inner tube. CONSTITUTION: In collapsing structure of a steering column for a vehicle, a steering column tube(2) is installed to the periphery of a steering shaft(1) connecting a steering wheel and a steering gear. The steering column tube forms a flat face(2a) by reduction of the outer diameter to the end part of the steering gear side. A lower mounting bracket(3), forming a hole corresponding to the sectional shape of the end part forming the flat face of the steering column tube, is installed to the end part of the steering gear side of the steering column tube. The end part of the steering column tube forming the flat face absorbs impact energy of a vehicle collision by friction force in a state of being assembled to the hole of the lower mounting bracket.
