PURPOSE: A cooling and heating apparatus using hydrogen storage alloys, and a method for controlling the same are provided to reduce power consumption and improve the efficiency of compressors by controlling the compressors and a system according to a compression ratio and a discharge pressure of each compressor measured by temperature sensors in real time. CONSTITUTION: A pair of reactors(10,15) are filled with a hydrogen storage alloy inside. A plurality of ventilating fans(30,35) forcibly absorb the external air for exchanging heat through the pair of reactors, and forcibly send the air into a room or out of the room. A plurality of hydrogen passage pipes(21-25) are connected with the reactors, wherein hydrogen flows inside. A plurality of compressors(40,45) are connected with the hydrogen passage pipes and are connected in serial for generating sending power to forcibly send the hydrogen inside the hydrogen passage pipe. A passage control valve(50) is installed in each hydrogen passage pipe for controlling a sending direction of the hydrogen. A plurality of temperature sensors(71,72,73) are installed in the hydrogen passage pipes for sensing a temperature of hydrogen flowed into or discharged from the plurality of compressors. A bypass passage(60) induces the hydrogen discharged from the plurality of compressors to a discharge side hydrogen passage pipe of the final compressor. A switch valve(65) is connected with the bypass passage for allowing or interrupting flow of hydrogen.
