PURPOSE: An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to enhance the transmittance by minimizing an adhesion margin. CONSTITUTION: On the substrate(110), a black matrix(112), a gate electrode(114) and the first capacitor electrode(116) are formed isolatedly. A color filter layer(118) is formed at the region for covering the black matrix(112), the gate electrode(114) and the first capacitor electrode(116). An overcoat layer(120) is positioned at the region for covering the color filter layer(118) and includes the region for exposing the gate electrode(114) and the first capacitor electrode(116). A gate insulation film(122) is positioned at the upper portion of the overcoat layer(120) and formed at the position for covering the gate electrode(114) and the first capacitor electrode(116). A semiconductor layer(124) is positioned at the upper portion of the gate insulation film(122) and formed at the position overlapped with the gate electrode(112). A thin film transistor(TFT)(T) is comprised of the gate electrode(114), the semiconductor layer(124), a source electrode(126) and a drain electrode(128). A passivation layer(136) having a drain contact hole(132) and a capacitor contact hole(134) is formed at the position for covering the TFT and the second capacitor electrode(130). A pixel electrode(138) is formed on the passivataion layer(136) at the position for covering the drain electrode(128) and the second capacitor electrode(130).
