PURPOSE: A method for controlling a cooling fan in the malfunction of a coolant temperature sensor is provided to prevent the unnecessary operation of a cooling fan by deciding the operating range of an engine based on the amount of the fuel supplied to a combustion chamber and controlling the rotational speed of the cooling fan. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling a cooling fan in the malfunction of a coolant temperature sensor comprises the steps of inputting the signals measured by a coolant temperature sensor, a vehicle speed sensor, an injector opening time sensor, a PCSV(Purge Control Solenoid Valve) duty ratio, and a PCSV opening time, deciding the malfunction of the coolant temperature sensor and the vehicle speed sensor, calculating the amount of the fuel supplied to a combustion chamber of an engine with response to the malfunction of the coolant temperature sensor and the vehicle speed sensor, deciding the operating range of the engine according to the amount of the fuel, and controlling the rotational speed of the cooling fan according to the operating range of the engine.
