326,778. British Celanese, Ltd., Dreyfus, H., Dickie, W. A., and Taylor, W. I. Sept. 13, 1928. Divided on 321,762. Drawings to Specification. Yarns and threads. - Artificial filaments or threads are given a regular or systematic irregularity in denier by producing pulsations in the delivery of the spinning solutions to the jets. To this end, diaphragms, pistons, or plungers are caused to vibrate, reciprocate, or oscillate in contact with the spinning solution. The method is applicable to the manufacture of threads by dry or wet spinning processes, and the initial material may be cellulose acetate or other cellulose ester or ether, viscose, or an ammoniacalcopper solution of cellulose. The filaments may be formed into yarns showing the same variations as the individual filaments, or reduced to staple lengths, either continuously with their production or subsequently thereto, or they may be twisted or doubled with threads or other artificial or natural filaments or fibres. Specifications 321,762 and 326,777 are referred to. |
