PURPOSE: A rear plate is provided to accurately dispose an electrode at the center between barrier ribs, while achieving improved electrical and optical characteristics of PDP. CONSTITUTION: A rear plate(100) comprises a glass substrate(110); an electrode(120) formed on the glass substrate; a dielectric layer(130) formed on the electrode; a barrier rib(140) formed on the dielectric layer through an etching process; and a phosphor layer(150) formed along the side and bottom surface of the barrier rib, and which emits visible rays through an electrical signal. The electrode includes an effective portion formed on the center of the upper surface of the glass substrate so as to apply an address signal; a pad portion formed along the rim of the upper surface of the glass substrate and connected to a driver circuit; and a connection portion for connecting the pad portion. The dielectric layer covers the effective portion in its entirety and a certain part of the connection portion. The barrier rib is formed into stripe shapes such that the barrier rib is interposed between the effective portions of the electrode. The phosphor layer is formed into a thickness of 10 to 30§.
