The invention relates to Fischer-Tropsch fuels having lower toxicity than conventional diesel fuels. This is achieved by reducing the amount of an intermediate fraction, boiling between 260{C and 315{C. Preferably between 20 and 30 weight percent of the fuel boils at this point. It is further disclosed that the composition may have a bi-modal boiling distribution. The fuel composition has a 5 weight percent point at or below 300{C and a 95 weight percent point at or above 360{C. The kinematic viscosity at 40{C us less than 5.5 cSt, and the cloud point is less than -18{C. The process for preparing a low toxicity Fischer-Tropsch fuel comprises, separating the Fischer-Tropsch product into low, intermediate and high boiling fractions, and blending the low and high boiling fractions to produce said fuel.
