The monitoring system has position sensors (4) for determining the height of an over head The sensors are placed on a shaft and measuring a pantograph (1) on the roof of a particular wagon (2). Extent of the wear is determined by observing the digital over head wire, based on the color difference of a friction zone and contrast with others that are darker due to dirtand oxidation. An obtained image is processed in real time in correspondence with digital over head wire. An electronic system and information control are provided inside the car.
