Optical WDM network for flexible connections has only one band drop filter that may drop selected ones of wavelength channels used by WDM transmitters in satellite nodes

Client equipment may be connected to a main node and to satellite nodes. Each of WDM transmitters in the satellite transmits light signals carrying information in a fixed one of the wavelength channels to the fiber ring path. Only one band drop filter is arranged in the main node. Such filter may drop selected ones of the wavelength channels used by the WDM transmitters in the satellite nodes.
