A fireproof frame for e.g. a door or window in a building wall comprises a first wooden section, a separate second wooden section and a connecting layer between the two sections for joining them together, comprising a fireproof material. The frame (1) comprises two wooden sections (4, 5) joined together by a connecting layer of fireproof material (3). An independent claim is also included for a method for making a heat resistant door or window frame, by forming a cavity (2) in a wooden post, at least partially filling the cavity with fireproof adhesive and partly removing a peripheral part of a beam in order to form two separate frame sections bonded together on opposite sides of the cavity.
