PURPOSE: A communication method of a home network adapter is provided to enable an adapter to set a self address by using an address of a product, and to enable the product to directly transmit data, then to retransmit the data by confirming a response, thereby improving communication reliability. CONSTITUTION: When power is applied to an adapter1, an address request command is transmitted to a connected product through a serial interface(S21). The adapter1 decides whether data is received in the connected product(S22). If so, the adapter1 obtains a transmitter address from the received data and sets the obtained transmitter address to a self address(S23). The adapter1 obtains a receiver address from the received data, and transmits the obtained receiver address to an adapter2 corresponding to the address(S24). The adapter1 decides whether a response is produced from the adapter2(S25). If so, the adapter1 waits for other data.
