PURPOSE: A navigating method for detecting and automating a position and an operation of a traveling vehicle by using identifiable geographical features around a traveling vehicle and a navigation system thereby are provided to perform a navigating operation by using a traffic signal boards, traffic lanes, a relation between the traveling vehicle and geographical features, and traffic signals. CONSTITUTION: The traffic information is inputted into an input unit by a user input method or a sensor . The traffic information is stored into a memory. A control processor processes the inputted traffic information and the traffic information data stored in a database. The database is connected to the control processor in order to store the traffic information data as digital data. A signal transfer transmits the output data of the control processor to a driver and a steering. A display unit displays the output data of the control processor and the signal transfer.
